Voted “Ohio’s Best Arts Festival,” The Black Swamp Arts Fest is held in the heart of downtown Bowling Green every September. A juried art fair, youth activities, and free concerts by nationally known musicians make this a popular event for the locale as well as surrounding regions.
On Thursday, September 4, 2014, long-time BG resident Anesa Miller will help kick off the festival weekend with a reading and book-signing at Grounds for Thought Coffeehouse, 174 S. Main St. in Bowling Green. The event begins at 7 PM. Admission is free.
Among other work, Anesa will read her essay “That Summer,” which describes the local scene in the months before 9/11. Anesa’s books will be available for purchase, including her new novel, Our Orbit, which was just released in July 2014. Also on sale will be To Boldly Go: Essays for the Turning Years and A Road Beyond Loss: 3 Cycles of Poems & an Epilogue.

During the festival, on September 6 and 7 from 1 to 5 PM, Anesa will also have a booth outside Grounds for Thought to chat and sell books.
Anesa! That is SO cool! Congratulations! Will it be your first book event? Oh, how I wish I could attend! I’m so excited for you.
Thanks! I’ve done readings at GFT before, and I guess I had my poetry book back then. But this is the first event I’m doing with my new books. So yeah, it should be fun!
Outrageously cool!
Our festival really is a cosmic event. Maybe you know G.E. Smith of SNL fame? He was our headliner 2 different years. He said, “I told my manager, get me back in that parking lot.” Pretty sweet, even if exaggerated!
